Die Shizuoka Distillery brennt seit Oktober 2016 authentischen Single Malt Japanese Whisky – als eine von wenigen auch aus japanischem Malz.Shizuoka erzeugt mit verschiedenen Pot Stills unterschiedlichste Stile. Die Kupferbrennblase W von Forsyths wird über einen bis zu 800°C heißen Holzofen erhitzt. W-Destillate zeichnen sich daher durch Röstaromen, Kraft und Körper aus.Außergewöhnlich: Der Shizuoka Pot Still W – Japanese Barley 1st Edition baut zu 100 Prozent auf japanisches Gerstenmalz und wird ausschließlich in der holzbefeuerten Wash Still W gebrannt. Das Resultat ist ein geschmacksintensiver, weicher Goldgewinner mit Noten von Apfel, Zartbitterschokolade und Eichenwürze. Die Shizuoka Pot Still W wird in der direkt mit Holz befeuerten Destille destilliert und zu 100 % aus importierter Gerste hergestellt. 70 % davon sind getorfte Gerste. Honig mit Sahne und geröstetem Brot in der Nase. Dann kommen die milden Torfdüfte mit exotischen Kräutern und geräuchertem Lebkuchen ins Spiel. Im Geschmack: frische Kekse mit Karamell und gerösteten Nüssen. Das Ganze wird mit Torfrauch verfeinert. The Shizuoka Pot Still W is distilled in the direct wood-fired still and made from 100% imported barley. 70% of it is peated barley.

Honey with cream and toasted bread on the nose. Then the mild peat scents with exotic herbs and smoked gingerbread come into play.

The taste: fresh cookies with caramel and roasted nuts. The whole thing is refined with peat smoke. Malty sweetness on the finish with a pinch of peat smoke that lasts a long time.
