Aroma

Intense and lush. The first nose reveals notes of ylang-ylang, clove, artichoke, toasted walnut, blood orange, apricot kernel and cocktail cherry. Over time, almonds settle to the surface of the aroma palette. Over time, sandpaper, camphor, sultanas, dates and a fine coffee liqueur bring the palate back to Andalusia.

Abgang

Long and strong. Aromas of cane sugar permeate the finish, which is enlivened by coconut milk and honeysuckle as well as lacquer and mustard seed notes. Hampden Estate has been distilling rum in Jamaica's Trelawny region, the historic "Grand Cru" of Jamaican rum, for almost three centuries. The distillery's heavy pot still rums are crafted using unique methods - and celebrated worldwide for their remarkably full-bodied flavors. Named after the Spanish word that describes vineyards in the Jerez region, Pagos is the first Hampden Estate rum to be bottled and matured entirely in sherry casks.

The butts used to mature the Hampden Estate Pagos 2023 come from the famous Bodegas Fundador. Used in the Solera system, the 500 liter barrels contained Oloroso Sherry for up to 30 years before being refilled in Jamaica. Hampden's "High Ester" rum creates a perfect synergy with the Andalusian flavors. Notes of roasted walnut, cocktail cherries and dates, cane sugar, flowers and cocoa beans as well as lacquer and coriander unfold at 52% vol. for a spacious, exotic experience.
