Die Brennerei Ardmore ist eine der wenigen die rauchige Whiskys produzieren und nicht auf den Inseln Schottlands sitzt. Ardmore kommt aus den Highlands, die eigentlich nicht für ihre torfigen Abfüllungen bekannt sind. In diesem Fall durfte dieser Ardmore 12 Jahre in einem Ex Bourbonfass reifen und zusätzlich ein Finish in einem Portfass erhalten. Diese Kombination macht ihn zu einem sehr einzigartigen Highlander.
