Founded in 2005 by nine experimental friends, Stauning Whiskey is a success story. Whiskeys with an unmistakably Danish character are created from local grain from the Danish west coast (barley as well as rye), which is malted on the in-house malt floor and distilled in 24 small, directly fired pot stills.

The Danes build the bridge between tradition and innovation with, among other things, experimental ripening - for example in maple syrup barrels. Staunings Rye with Maple Syrup Cask Finish was named “World's Best Single Cask” in the Rye category under 12 years old at the World Whiskey Awards 2023, and it was awarded gold at The Spirits Business Global World Whiskey Masters 2023. Previously only available as a single cask, the crowd favorite is now returning in a limited but larger edition.

The unusual rye develops its profile, characterized by vanilla, licorice, citrus notes, sourdough, mint and cinnamon, in heavily burnt New American Oak Casks and finally in Maple Syrup Casks from Vermont, pre-filled with the thickened, sweet tree sap.
