The very dry influence of the Oloroso sherry butt in which this Speyside single malt spent its last 20 months of maturation is absolutely unmistakable.

Already on the nose it shows its character: quite sharp, very citrusy (lemon peel and bergamot), mineral and also with an organic touch of wet wood. Although not particularly wine-like, the tannic astringency is evident on the palate. The addition of water reduces the overall intensity and tames the edges, but strangely it also makes the citrus notes stand out more clearly from the chewy sweetness of the grain. In the finish it becomes increasingly spicy without losing its nervous character.
